For solid timber and parquetry, it is usually 24 hours after the completion of the coating application. It is advised, at this time to only wear socks and not shoes. (solid timber & parquetry floors)

Engineered timber floors come pre-finished and therefore you can walk on your floor once the installation is completed.

Furniture can be moved in carefully after 3 days. We advise not to drag furniture and to use carpet dots under tables and chair legs (including couches). These are available from PFC in the showroom.

See finishes.

What is the difference between timber floors and engineered timber floors?

Timber floors are made from solid timber either 14mm or 19mm thick and come in a range of species. eg Jarrah, Tasmanian Oak etc. Engineered timber has solid timber (lamella) glued onto a base similar to plywood.

Can I sand and/or re-coat engineered timber?

Most engineered timbers can be sanded and resealed in the future to maintain a new-looking floor. Ask one of our team if you are unsure.

Does PFC have Cork?

Yes, we have traditional cork tiles and a lovely range of floating cork flooring. We have samples on display in our showroom. See Cork

Are timber floors waterproof?

All timber floors have a coating over them, some come pre-coated & some are coated after installation.  We consider that they repel water, however, if left continually wet the timber will swell or warp. Therefore, we do not recommend our floors be laid in bathrooms or laundries.

How do I clean my timber floor?

Use a microfibre broom to remove dust and grit (as this is what damages your floors). Mop with a microfibre mop, ensuring that it is not too wet or hot.  Only use PH-negative cleaning products.  Parquetry Flooring Company recommends Squeaky Clean and Bona floor care.

Can I use a steam mop on my timber floors?

The short answer is NO.  A steam mop should not be used on any of the products we sell. Solid timber/Parquetry, floating/engineered timber, Bamboo, or Laminate.  It may, after time cause the material to swell or warp.

Can I use vinegar on my floors?

We do not recommend it.

Can I use methylated spirits on my floors?

We do not recommend it.

Does PFC have Bamboo or Laminate?

Yes, we do. The range of Bamboo we install has decreased its colour range in August 2020. Laminate has improved since its inception and now comes in a vast range. We also install both products and have a range on display in our showroom.
