Why Choose solid timber/hardwood floors?

Hardwood flooring is a great choice in solid timber flooring, the benefits are many including being very low maintenance. The benefits of hardwood floors certainly outweigh the initial cost. They are designed to last a lifetime with very little hard work involved.

Hygienic & Clean

One of the biggest advantages of hardwood floors is that solid timber flooring is a more sanitary option than other floor types. If you think about carpet versus hardwood; dust, germs and other debris get absorbed into the carpet fibres. With hardwood flooring, there is no place for debris to hide, making for a healthier, safer living environment, especially for allergy sufferers and young children.

Low Maintenance

Hardwood floors may cost more than carpeted floors, but they also require less maintenance. Solid Timber/hardwood floors are sealed surfaces with a protective layer of finish, therefore are more stain resistant many other types of flooring. Another benefit of hardwood floors is that they can be repaired and refinished. See Sanding & Polishing . Solid timber flooring can simply be sanded, and refinished/polished.  Unless there severe water damage, it is rare that a solid timber floor will need replacing.

Sustainable

Another advantage of hardwood floors is the environmental factor. Wood flooring is the most abundantly renewable flooring material available. Hardwood not only brings beauty and value to a home, but it can truly last a lifetime while floor covering such as carpet needs replacing every 10-15 years.

24 hours after the completion of the coating application. (In most cases there are 3 coats of polish) It is advised, at this time to only wear socks and not shoes.

Furniture can be moved in carefully after 3 days. We advise not to drag furniture and to use carpet dots under table and chair legs (including couches). These are available from PFC in the showroom.

Probably the biggest benefit of hardwood is its unique and beautiful look. Hardwood is one of the oldest flooring materials there is and it never goes out of style. Parquetry Flooring Company has large variety of species and timber types on display in Adelaide.

Timber Floor Options

Concrete sub-floors used to be an issue for customers wanting a solid timber floor. Installing 12-14mm thick direct stick floor is a great option if you do not want the height build-up of battens & floorboards. These floors can be sanded and polished as per traditional thickness’.

If you have an older home that has battens or joists below the sub-floor, Parquetry Flooring Company can install traditional floors in Adelaide or anywhere in South Australia. The planks anchor to each joist. The planks come in varying widths from 80mm to 180mm.
