Traditionally parquetry is laid in single blocks. This allows it to be laid in a large number of designs.

Different Styles are:
Lineal: "straight lines"
Herringbone: "angled blocks"
Double herringbone: "two blocks next to each other in same pattern as herringbone"
Basket Weave: as seen in picture below
Square on Square: "similar to mosaic but in block parquetry rather than small fingers"

These designs can also be altered by laying them in 45o angle or 90o angle.
They both have a stunning effect.

It is also available in different thickness, the choice there is made to accommodate existing others floors, or price
considerations. There is also a choice of Natural Grade or Select Grade.

The Natural Grade is as it comes off the tree, which means if there is some imperfections in the timber surface they will
be left in. Where as in the Select Grade any imperfections are taken out.

Some people love the look of the Natural Grade, as after all it is timber, while others taste leads them to choose
Select Grade both are hard durable choices.

Borders
add a decorative feature to a parquetry floor and can be used with all parquetry and direct stick flooring
applications onto the sub-floor. Using a contrasting timber gives a great effect, and is used in many homes.
Adding a border to an entrance adds nice feature.
